Casinos in Asia: Hope for a Prosperous Future

Many countries in Asia are continuously trying to find ways in order to improve their way of life and standard of living. As the local governments and the majority of the population admire prosperous cities like that of Las Vegas, which has been attracting investors and tourists for years due to the presence of its luxurious casinos, hotels and nightlife, these countries in the Asian continent, would also like a taste of the action!

Countries like Malaysia, Australia, Chine and Singapore have already begun to move in the right direction by trying to increase trade and promote tourism with the help of providing for more entertainment facilities like casinos, hotels and restaurants. There are many casino resorts that have been put up over the years as restrictions and bans on gambling in these areas have been slowly lifted. These countries aim to become more like Las Vegas in the hope of a flourishing future, seeking to modernize their cities as their countries' population continuously expands. The more the population, the more needs need to be met.

Many third world countries in the Asian continent only dream and hope that their cities will be as income-generating as that of Las Vegas. And so, they look to take a gamble on the prospect of improving their way of life by means of enticing more foreign investors to open up casinos and gaming houses in their area.

Although there can also be a number of people who would protest against the existence of any casino or gambling house in their respective cities, it is clearly what seems to be needed at a time when there is a great deficiency in the number of jobs available for the majority of the population. One may quickly outweigh the positive effects over the negative effects of the opening of casinos in a place where the masses are starved of income generating activities.

The fact that gambling is deeply rooted in majority of Asian cultures cannot be denied. It would be hypocritical for religious organizations and those opposed to the casino and gaming industry, to deny the population of the benefits that casino businesses can offer to their city. Whether or not casinos exist, the threats of crimes, illegal gambling, and prostitution will always be evident, especially in third world countries, so it is very wrong for any religious sect to suggest that the existence of such activities is brought about by the establishment of casinos and gaming industries in the area.

The fact of the matter is that casino establishments have proven over the years to give more good than bad. Las Vegas City is a living and growing example of that. It is for this reason that many Asian countries would want to follow in the same footsteps in the hope of improving their low standard of living.
